On 7 November, a good number of members gathered at Van der Valk in the Zuidas for the last members’ evening of this year.
Successes celebrated, the Give A Damn circle has grown to 56 members this year and we hope to continue to grow even further. Especially in these times with reports of the tap for development aid being turned off considerably, an organisation like the Give A Damn has become even more important.
During this members’ meeting, Marieke van der Plas, director, and Javier Koole, senior researcher at Rutgers, came along with a penetrating presentation and conversation on, among other things, the role of social media on the decline of sexual freedom and health. With the international negative attention to the ‘Spring Tickles’ programme in primary schools still fresh in our minds, Rutgers took us through how this dis- misinformation made them so combative. And the circle of the Give A Damn with it. The main message was: engage in discussion, check the facts and don’t leave it at that!
Finally, Martijn Albers of Pride Amsterdam took us through the plans for World Pride in 2026. We will hear more about this in the near future; it already promises to be a period to look forward to!
